The Department of Education publish last June, 2020 in their official website the Deped Memorandum regarding the implementation of Homeroom Guidance. The implementation of Homeroom Guidance as part of K-12 Curriculum is intended to “Homeroom Guidance shall complement the Department’s goal, which is to produce holistically developed Filipinos who are able to understand themselves, have problem solving skills, make informed decisions, achieve academic success, plan for their future, and respect individual differences. It envisions learners who can work for the common good of society and love for our country while upholding the rights and responsibilities of global citizens.” as stated in Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Homeroom Guidance (HG) during Crisis Situation of the Department of Education.
As indicated in the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Homeroom Guidance (HG) during Crisis Situation of the Department of Education, “This issuance sets the basic standards for an efficient and effective implementation of the Homeroom Guidance public and private schools nationwide.” and strengthen by the provision in the same memorandum, “Conduct of Homeroom Guidance is mandatory but this is not part of the academic rating”. The school will partially adopt the said issuance. 3. Homeroom Guidance is treated as additional subject in all form of education of K-12 Curriculum, in addition, this is not elective like Computer Education. This subject will be abbreviated as “HG” and with the following principles:
a. It is not part of Academic Rating and didn’t contribute to the criteria for learner’s promotion.
b. It will have a separate Report Card with a descriptive grading system, see the sample of HG Report Card at Appendix A of this School Memo 13 s. 2020-2021.
c. This subject will be allotted with one teaching hour per week by either A.V. Lesson or Tele-class.
d. Homeroom Guidance will be part of the curriculum starting SY 2020-2021 and onward.
